Our Instructors

Join Richard Paul and Chris Barry for an 8 week improv curriculum. Whether you are a beginner or a twenty year veteran this class is for you.

Beginners–At the end of the semester you will have an understanding of improv acting, increased confidence in creating and making choices and have the ability to play with authenticity, coherence and fun!

Advanced–At the end of the semester you will be able to play with more advanced comedy technique and theory, consistently improvise scenes that resonate, delight and build no matter who you play with and more quickly develop, create and execute a variety of improv forms.

Everyone–Have a better sense of how teamwork can work for everyone!

There will be several performance opportunities in this program.

Course Begins April 3 and runs every first and third Wednesday of the month until July 17th. You can drop in to each class for $25 for no performance track. Class time: 6:30-9 PM. $200 for the full eight week program.

Four First Names

With More than 45 combined years’ experience acting, hosting teaching and coaching improv, Richard Paul and Chris Barry combine with a rotating cast of music directors to make up the troupe Four First Names out of Orlando, Florida. They perform a fully improvised musical long-form set inspired by details from audience members. Four First names has performed in more than 50 cities across 15 states.

Chris Barry is currently a player-coach with The Corner Gallery, half of the musical improv duo Four First Names, a founding member of Youtube show History Bluffs, and a founding member of the sketch/improv comedy troupe Gaggle Reflex. He has been an improviser, actor and host for 17 years with Four First Names, The Corner Gallery, Gaggle Reflex, SAK Comedy Lab, It’s Improvised at the 129! , Give Kids the World, Random Processes and Unity in Playback Theater. Chris has also done scores of public speaking engagements for a $10 billion NYSE-listed company and is a chocolate milk connoisseur.

Richard Paul has been an improviser, actor and instructor for more than 20 years at SAK Comedy Lab, Walt Disney World, Offsides Improv and was the founder of Unity in Playback Theater, Orlando’s first Playback Theater Troupe. His feature film acting credits include Keeping Up with the Jonses (2016) and GeoStorm (2017). He is a founding member of the sketch/improv comedy troupe Gaggle Reflex. Richard has also led dozens of innovation projects for Fortune 500 companies and is a master prepared of the Guyanese national dish pepperpot.
